Movies by OneTap App Reviews

I have to agree with some reviewers that have been disappointed. I purchased this because I thought it would offer something more than the free ones. Well, it does not! Ive swallowed the loss and got rid off it. Movies is way better in so many respects, not because it is free, it is just much better. It does what it says, so I cannot rate it one star, though value is zero.

Happily, this app DOES provide support for Canadian locations, either by City, Province, or by Postal Code. In that regard it works quite well and has some nice features. The Location-based services are messed up, however.... I live in uptown Toronto and although everything else that uses LBS on the iPhone seems to find me with no problems, but this app seems to think Im in Youngstown, NY 14174. To add to the above, the last version supported Canadian location services with no issues, but the most recent update as of 19 Oct 08 seems to have broken them again. :-(

Im in Toronto and for some reason this app thinks the nearest theatre is 43 kms away (as the crow flies, across Lake Ontario) in New York state.

Nice idea, but crashes constantly. Also, many of the preview videos will not play. Running on an iPhone 3G.

Its hard to imagine how detailed and comprehensive this app can be, considering its free! Once Ive set my location in Location Services, it displays all my local theatres as well as the films and showtimes playing in each location. At first, OneTap Movies assumed that my closest movie theatre would be in Bellingham, WA (about a half-hours drive south), but after clicking on Refresh, several local cinemas were shown instead. I guess a feature request would be to have a Search function, in order to find where a requested movie was playing. However, considering the price I paid, this is a minor quibble -- and in any case I can just look through my local theatre listings in OneTap Movies. Good job, Avantar!

This app is super buggy and quits unexpectedly constantly. Although the GPS feature is great, it doesnt pull the current location for the same days entries, so if I view the theaters at home, it doesnt recalculate when Im running around town for that day. These issues along with a number of UI issues (forgetting what entry you were looking at when you go to the next page, etc), makes me give this a big thumbs down. Stick with the free version until the developer fixes these bugs!

This application is very poorly done, together with all other applications from Avantar. I am in Toronto, Canada and the iPhones GPS shows this correctly, but all Avantar applications place me in Youngstown, NY, USA, about 80 km away in a straight line. Stay away from this application as it is very buggy.

Works great for Toronto and surrounding theaters. Ive tried it in a few US cities (Boston, Manchester NH), and it seemed to have good data there as well.

This application is perfect!

This app allows you to YouTube preview your desired movie and base on your loction, give you options of ttheater from which to chose. (with google maps direction). Love it!!!

Finally a quality application worth its price. Works awesome in Edmonton alberta. A++

Nice to have this tiny application in your device. Looks for all theaters close to your current location and displays list of movies and timings.

This app would be perfect as I love going to the movies but the constant crashing (and wrong location) make it almost unuseable. Hoping there will be an update to fix this. Running on iPhone 3G

Seeing lots of reviews that it works in Canada, but definitely isnt working in Ottawa - Im being directed to theatres across the US border that are an hour & 1/2 away! Too bad - Im loving Urban Spoon and would have liked something similar for movies. Maybe this will be fixed in an upgrade?

Highly inconsistent -- works some of the time.

Distances (and thus theatre listing sort) are all wrong even when use with correct postal code. Movie icons/graphics often wont load. Works sometimes, other times just hangs and then crashes. Theres better out there. After 3 versions and very little improvement, Im deleting.

Works incredibly well in The Greater Toronto Area!!! Love this app!

Its a great app but crashes sometimes

so far gets the award for most frequently crashed app. when it works it still gets the closest theatre wrong. unable to set the current location. this is Toronto but it thinks we are somewhere in new York state. location interface amateurish. there are many ways to waste your 1.99. avoid this one.
